"Passionately Local" is the theme for chef Monica Pope's T'afia restaurant in Midtown, Houston, Texas. The name comes from "ratafia," which is is creole for a fortified wine made with seasonal produce.
Monica articulately arranges organically grown produce and meats from local producers in the time tested fashion that made regional European cuisine so well known and desired.
Ikal 1150 & T'afia Wine List
Always supporting local Texas growers, T'afia also has a wide selection wines from Texas winemakers, including a new wine made by Texans in Argentina. The concentrated fruit and earthy minerality in the Ikal 1150 Malbec pairs especially well with the Texas meats and spicy accents that make T'afia famous.
The high altitude and dry climate allow our grapes with pure snow-melt water and without pesticides, fungicides, manures, or chemical fertilizers. *
